Pitt Street Uniting Church
Pitt Street Uniting Church were presented with two Five Leaf Eco-Awards on Sunday 30th of June in their regular service, and Terrigal Uniting Church were recognised with an award at the NSW/ACT Synod Meeting.
Pitt Street Uniting Church was recognised for its leadership role in environmental action in the Synod, and for completing a range of environmental achievements as required by the criteria of the Basic Certificate, including switching to GreenPower, establishing a ‘green corner’ in the church, hosting a range of environmental events, environmental letter writing campaigns, their support of the Australian Religious Response to Climate Change and the work of their environment group in encouraging the Synod and wider church to take real action on climate change. They were also recognised for their commitment to the Season of Creation and World Environment Day, and including environmental themes in worship regularly, with the Eco-Worship Award.
