Terrigal Uniting Church
Terrigal Uniting Church were presented with their Five Leaf Eco-Awards Basic Certificate at the Uniting Church NSW/ACT Synod meeting on Saturday 6th of July 2019. Some of their many environmental projects recognised include:
- Conservation Covenant on bush area, including significant bush regeneration work.
- Native bee hives
- Establishing a Bush Tucker Garden
- Educating the congregation on recycling
- Changed to Who Gives A Crap (sustainable toilet paper company)
- Installed reverse cycle air conditioners to reduce our electricity consumption (compared to fan heaters)
- Changing lights to LED,
- Did a detailed waste audit & found almost half of our waste is food scraps,
- Bought a composter “the earthmaker” for our scraps
- Solar panels and water tank
- Getting quotes to install MORE solar panels to further reduce their reliance on the grid
- Created nesting boxes for wildlife
